   BASIC ADVICE

If you just want to cut to the chase without reading all the info on the site, this is a short list of the most solid practical advice for anyone who is concerned about kidney stones.

  • Drink lots of water!
This means about four liters a day if you're a stone farmer. Plan your water intake throughout the day. A good plan might be: a liter of water before breakfast; a liter before lunch; a liter before dinner; a liter before bed.

  • Take your supplements.
    • Take magnesium (200-400 mg. has been suggested)
    • B6 (50 mg. suggested)
    • Cranberry extract capsules (for calcium oxalate stones, not uric acid stones ).
    • Do not take calcium pills.
    • Make homemade lemonade (half cup lemon juice to two liters of water; sweeten with honey or maple syrup if desired) and sip throughout the day.

  • Eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and whole grains.
    • Cut back on meat.
    • Cut way back on sugar and refined flour products--cut 'em out if you can.
    • Don't drink soft drinks, especially cola.
    • A beer or glass of wine each day may be helpful.

  • Take your herbs--daily. You can feel better and maybe even get better. You can buy them here.

  • Take some enzymes. They can help your body heal and--according to recent research--possibly help prevent stone formation. You can get them here.
