HOMEOPATHY
INFO
|
Homeopathy has a long history and is well established in many countries around the world. In British
Commonwealth countries, for example, medical doctors routinely prescribe homeopathic medicine. Today
many of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the United States—usually marketing conventional
medications—are researching and mass-producing homeopathic medicines.
Homeopathic medicines are prepared by starting with a remedy in its most concentrated form (usually
from plants, though sometimes from minerals and more rarely from animal sources). Then, a long process
of dilution and succussion (shaking) produces a medicine that doesn’t contain the crude substance, but
the energy of it. The word “potency” in homeopathy refers to how much a remedy was diluted. The higher
the number, the greater the dilution (up to one part remedy to one trillion parts dilutant), so the
less crude matter would be present in the dose. Oddly enough, the more diluted the medicine, the
greater the potency. These very small doses stimulate the sick person's natural defenses.
