   MARSHMALLOW

No, not marshmallows!
It's an herb. . .

Dr. Christopher in The School of Natural Healing wrote that “marshmallow is very soothing to the inflamed respiratory, alimentary, intestinal and genito-urinary areas. . . .especially useful for urinary complaints because it has no astringent action and is somewhat relaxing.”

David Hoffman points out that marshmallow may help in “cystitis, urethritis and urinary gravel.”  Noted herbalist Dr. Michael Weiner in Weiner's Herbal writes, “Marshmallow root is well known to have a very high mucilage content. When the mucilage comes into contact with water it swells and forms a very soft, soothing and protective gel. . . . "  The Encyclopedia of Medicinal Plants reports that  it is “useful whenever a soothing effect is needed, marshmallow protects and soothes the mucous membranes.”  In The Scientific Validation of Herbal Medicine, Mowrey points out that marshmallow “is mainly used internally to treat inflammation and mucosal afflictions of the genito-urinary tract . ..”

As you can see, Marshmallow root is an important addition to Dr. Clark's kidney stone formula for its reputed ability to ease out the stones, as well as soothe inflamed areas.
